AI News Summary: Shaadi.com founder Anupam Mittal has raised concern over India’s current obsession with “deep-tech” buzzwords. Speaking at a tech policy forum, he warned that without real-world AI skill development, India might be chasing hype instead of building jobs.

Tech Hype vs. Ground Reality: What Mittal Really Said

Speaking at the “India Future Tech Summit” in Mumbai, Anupam Mittal criticised what he called the “buzzword-driven narrative” in India’s startup and policy circles.
He argued that too much focus is being placed on vague deep-tech labels — quantum computing, generative models, decentralized frameworks — while millions of youth still lack basic AI employment skills.

“We need to stop chasing cool-sounding tech and start training our people for actual, usable AI roles,” Mittal said.

The Real Problem: Skilling Gaps Are Widening

Mittal highlighted that despite AI being in the mainstream, India’s education and skilling ecosystems haven’t caught up.
Most training platforms are either outdated or only accessible to top-tier metros, while tier-2 and tier-3 cities are still largely excluded from meaningful AI exposure.

He advocated for vocational-style AI programs, community learning centres, and public-private partnerships that build entry-level AI literacy, especially in non-technical industries.
