Small-Town Students, Big-Tech Dreams: What’s Driving the AI Craze in Motihari?

Until a few years ago, Artificial Intelligence was something mostly discussed in elite institutions or metro cities. But now, even students in tier-3 cities like Motihari are making AI their first step toward a future-ready career. According to admission records, 21 students selected the AI & Data Science branch in the very first phase of counselling — the highest among all branches this year.

College principal Dr. Sanjay Kumar Singh shared that while the AI department is relatively new, the student response has exceeded expectations, hinting at a major shift in tech aspirations beyond big cities.

Why Are Students Choosing AI Over Traditional Streams?

Today’s students don’t just want a degree — they want future-proof skills. AI offers exactly that. Whether it’s job prospects, research, entrepreneurship or government tech initiatives, AI is at the centre of it all.

One newly admitted student put it simply: “It doesn’t matter if we come from a small town — if we learn AI, we can work for the world.”

The Face of Education Is Quietly Changing

The shift towards AI isn’t just about one course — it’s a signal of how Indian education is evolving. When students from smaller towns start chasing cutting-edge fields like Artificial Intelligence, it shows the talent pool is deepening and democratising.

If this trend continues, more government colleges across India may soon introduce similar future-ready departments.
