Quick UpDate -Google is offering Indian college students (18+) a free one-year subscription to its Gemini 2.5 Pro-powered AI Pro plan, worth ₹19,500. The deal includes AI Mode in Search and a full suite of classroom-focused tools

What Exactly Has Google Announced?

In a move aimed squarely at India’s student population, Google has launched a new initiative that gives college students access to some of its most advanced AI tools — completely free for one year.

Along with this student offer, Google has also unlocked its new AI Mode in Search and introduced several smart tools specifically designed for classrooms.

What’s Included in the Offer?

Eligible students can now use:

  • Gemini 2.5 Pro, Google’s most powerful AI assistant
  • Premium tools like Veo 3 for text-to-video, Deep Research for smarter exploration, and NotebookLM Plus, now upgraded with voice features
  • 2 TB Google Cloud storage integrated across Gmail, Docs, and Sheets
  • Over 30 education-specific AI tools for quizzes, summaries, assignments and more

Google says this is all part of its mission to bring “AI assistance to every student who needs it.”

How to Claim the Free Plan

Students have until 15 September 2025 to grab this offer — but they’ll need to register using their official college email ID.

Once registered, the AI Pro plan will be active for one full year — no payment or card info required. This rollout is expected to reach lakhs of Indian students in the coming weeks.

If executed well, Gemini could become the AI tutor many Indian students never had access to.

Why This Rollout Could Shift Indian Education

With India home to over 250 million students, giving them free access to top-tier AI tools could level the learning field. It especially helps those from under-resourced regions or government colleges.

This launch also puts pressure on India’s edtech platforms to catch up — as Google enters the classroom with powerful, free offerings that go beyond content delivery.
